Starhotels, in collaboration with Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d’Arte and Associazione Oma, promoted the “La Grande Bellezza” Award and selected 10 finalists, all of absolute excellence. A total of 131 master craftsmen participated in the first edition of the competition “a source of light”. The Bianco Bianchi atelier was selected among the finalists with a precious marble and scagliola table, with 167 slabs of natural selenite treated with a thin layer of pigmented scagliola. For the first time, the ancient technique of scagliola becomes transparent and luminous.
Bianco Bianchi is a historic and famous Florentine workshop dedicated to the working of scagliola, or moonstone, founded in the mid-nineteenth century and now run by siblings Elisabetta and Alessandro Bianchi who learned the arduous technique from their father Bianco, a great master of the art.
A great success, congratulations.
